Dont forget to check the ignition pulse generators inside the oil filed casing on the right and check the impedence of the main spark coils just unplug the connector and measure aproxamatly 480 ohms for each pair of wires
and yes they do go intermitent like my old ones and pack up too

It is a 1000R but has a US tank. My guess would be an 86 USA model.
The 1000R was only released in 84 in Australia and did not have the later style fairing that one has.

In the US the 85 had the single headlight and the 86 the dual.

Why do you think it is an Aussie bike?

thats what the vin identifies it as SC16-2003346

In the Shed / Update of the regulator/rectifier unit
« Last post by Faxe on September 21, 2017, 08:07:30 am »
Hi all,

I want to update my regulator/rectifier unit with a newer MosFet version. Has somebody done that before? Any recommendation of what to use?

Wiring should not be that great Problem. AC Generator has 3 wires (yellow), double red/White  is the 12V, double green is ground. What is the blue one for? It goes to fuel pump Relais, Start and Stop Switch. It has something to do with ignition. Is it generated inside the Regulator or is used as triggger there?

If somebody is asking "Why?" ... I want to change the starter battery to a homemade Lithium Version and want to have better DC supply.

I had an 85 US with dual headlight (maybe modified later, before it was shipped to europe).

A great help would be frame and engine serial numbers. Maybe also carb identifier.

You got a lot of work to do ...  ;)   And you will need some parts.

It looks like a VF1000R, so you got one. Maybe you should give some more details.

What exactly do you want to know?

It looks like repainted tank. 85 fairing.

Sales and Wants / My VF1000FF for sale
« Last post by Marmite on September 16, 2017, 06:29:14 pm »
After owning this '86 model for several years I've decided its time to sell her so I can concentrate on my 500 F2. It has 12 months MOT and although tired in appearance the engine runs superbly. There's a small oil leak from somewhere near the top of the engine ( possibly the oil pipe banjo into the cyl head)
I'm looking for offers about £750.00 so if anyone wants photos just pm me and I'll send them direct ( cant get the hang of this new photo format )
