Yes Marmite thats what I was thinking when I viewed it, so I thought it would  be a nightmare not knowing which parts were off which model (not having enough knowledge of VF1000 and there being quite a few changes FE to FF).  Also the wiring loom under the seat looked a bit hacked at some point in the last 33 years!

You're probably right about the Silverwing Biff however the VF 500 would give a good account of itself ( but not in my hands).  ;D

My suspicion is that it might well be a "cut and shut" jobby. Im not suggesting the present owner has done this but possibly the plate ( & V5) from one was put onto the chassis of a Bol.

In the Shed / VF1000F2 speedo flicking around and reading high
« Last post by Hoges on December 06, 2017, 09:34:21 pm »
Hi all.

My 85 VF1000F2 speedo is bouncing around all over the place, and if it remains steady whilst underway will like be showing double the speed the bike is doing at the time.  Not to sure whether its a bad signal or the speedometer is on the way out.

Any thoughts as to why its doing this?

The VF1000f and the always available VF750s. I still get questions about the cam issues. I always respond with the same answer...What cam issues.

Am currently bidding on this one.
I had  the FF in 86 through to 93 and enjoyed it, always stuck with Hondas v engines and have not been disappointed.

In the Shed / Re: Applying decals to painted panels and tank, then...clear?

Hi yes you are correct enough sure the paint is thoroughly clean use panel wipe or soapy water, then thoroughly dry the parts, use a good apply the decals and wear latex gloves as the grease from your fingers can cause reactions then apply the 2k laqueur, mixed to the correct ratio with activator, and I add about 10% thinners to aid putting it on, use a good hvlp gun and ensure it as a water filter fitted and a pressure gauge, I use a 1.4 needle in the gun and apply about 3 to 4 coats which will give it a good shine leave for about 24 hours and buff with fine cutting compound,  failing that get a professional to do it, the main thing is to remember mixing correctly and not putting it on to heavy I normally leave about 30 minutes between coats depending on temperature, probably alot warmer where you are
